Mercury goes retrograde & Jupiter enters Aries: Stepping into a more expansive story

Astrological Doodle Art: Jupiter enters Aries on May 10, 2022

On May 10, 2022 at 6:47am CST, Mercury goes retrograde at 4° Gemini 51’. Mercury is our ability to perceive and communicate our perceptions, and Gemini is the sign that encapsulates Beginner’s Mind, having a sense of wonder, awe, and playful innocence about life, always asking “why?” Gemini is a place where Mercury feels the most at home. We are constantly telling stories and making meaning. All beliefs start with a story of why. Now is the chance, when Mercury goes retrograde, to examine your thoughts, perceptions, and beliefs. As Mercury retrogrades into Taurus, we will see how our thoughts and beliefs align with our values. If you want to read more about Mercury in Gemini, please read Pluto goes retrograde in Capricorn & Mercury enters Gemini: Time to tell a new story.

Here are the important dates for Mercury Retrograde:
April 27: Mercury entered its shadow at 26° Taurus 05’, just three days after conjuncting the North Node and squaring Saturn at 23° Aquarius and the South Node at 23° Scorpio
April 28: Mercury at 28° Taurus trine Pluto at 28° Capricorn
April 29: Mercury enters Gemini
May 10: Mercury goes retrograde at 4° Gemini 51’
May 21: Sun conjunct Mercury at 0° Gemini
June 3: Mercury goes direct at 26° Taurus 05’
June 19: Mercury exits its shadow at 4° Gemini 51’

On the same day, Jupiter enters Aries at 6:22pm CST. Jupiter in Aries is the beginning of a whole new cycle around the zodiac for Jupiter. It will briefly dip into Aries from May 10-October 28, 2022, turn retrograde at 6° Aries 53’, and then retrogrades into Pisces on October 28, 2022 until it enters Aries for good on December 21, 2022. Jupiter in Aries is an expansion into your greatest potential, as Aries is the first sign in the zodiac, the I AM, the spark of divinity that descends into matter to express itself in form (Taurus). Jupiter will give you a boost of passion, will, and fire to be your authentic self, to express yourself to the fullest, to expand your worldview because we learn more about ourselves when we explore the world and move beyond what we have previously known. How can you expand beyond what you ever thought was possible for you? What big visions do you have for the next 12 years (what did Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Pisces awaken within you)?

Reexamine your story with Mercury retrograde and dare to step into a more expansive story with Jupiter entering Aries. Even if you don’t fully understand where you are going, don’t lose faith. Things will be more clear once Jupiter enters Aries for good on the Winter Solstice.

Weekly Sacred Astrology, May 7-13, 2022

Sun conjunct North Node in Taurus on May 13, 2022: now is the time to deeply contemplate Taurus and where it falls in your chart

May 10, 2022: Mercury goes Rx at 4° Gemini 51’. With Mercury in Gemini, we have an opportunity to cultivate Beginner’s Mind. When Mercury goes retrograde in Gemini, we have an opportunity to tell a new story. It is time to rethink everything we thought we knew about the world. It it time to contemplate: What if I was wrong about everything? How do I step into a new story? With Mercury retrograding back into Taurus, it is what must I reevaluate in order to step into a new story?

Jupiter enters Aries.

May 12, 2022: Peak Venus Portal: Venus at 10° Aries opposite Moon at 10° Libra. This is a beautiful opportunity to examine our relationship with ourselves so that we may relate to and connect with others more vulnerably and therefore, more deeply. By becoming intimate with our innermost instincts, patterns, and emotions, and learning how to relate to ourselves with love, acceptance, and compassion, we become better partners because we have a much better understanding of our desires, values, and needs. You cannot get from another that which you are unable to cultivate first from within yourself.

May 13, 2022: Sun conjunct North Node at 22° Taurus. The Sun conjuncts the North Node right before the Total Lunar Eclipse on May 15th. Perhaps now you will see clearly what the Nodes are trying to tell you (where you can move forward (North Node in Taurus) and where you can let go (South Node in Scorpio). Look to the Taurus and Scorpio areas of your natal chart for more guidance on where you are being asked to evolve and grow. Venus enters Aries: I AM Love

May 2, 2022 Venus enters Aries

Venus enters Aries on May 2, 2022 at 11:10am CST. What is possible for us when the planet of personal love, the lower heart; our ability to love, relate, and connect enters the realm of the I AM, the initiating spark of creation that begins all? Everything beautiful can be birthed from this place. Venus will meet up with Chiron and Eris while transiting through Aries, and it will also square Pluto in Capricorn, which is now retrograde. Venus conjunct Chiron in Aries is an opportunity for deep healing, not only of our relationship to ourselves and the parts of us that we have repressed, suppressed, and denied, but it is also an opportunity to heal our connections with others and life, becoming more conscious of the truth that we are a sum of our relationships. Venus conjunct Eris in Aries is an invitation to even more radically own who we are; to work through the b.s. that is keeping us from our authentic beingness. Venus square Pluto In Capricorn retrograde will test who we are becoming, and if we are out of alignment with authenticity, we may feel challenged in some way by external authorities, structures, or institutions. The heart will lead you truly, but you must listen to its whispers, which are quiet, loving, and ever so patient. One who leads with heart will strive to act from a place of consideration of how they affect others.

May 15: Venus conjunct Chiron at 14° Aries on the same day as the Total Lunar Eclipse
May 24: Venus conjunct Eris at 24° Aries
May 27: Venus at 28° Aries square Pluto Rx at 28° Capricorn
May 28: Venus enters Taurus

Weekly Sacred Astrology, April 30-May 6, 2022

May 5, 2022 Sun conjunct Uranus

April 30, 2022: Partial Solar Eclipse-New Moon at 10° Taurus 28’ conjunct Uranus at 3:28pm CST. Having an eclipse conjunct Uranus is an opportunity to take quantum leaps you did not even know were possible. Or perhaps you did, because first Jupiter met up with Neptune in Pisces, and now Venus has entered into intimate conversation with both Neptune and Jupiter in Pisces, giving us access to dreams and visions from the metaphysical realms that are beyond what we thought were possible for us. But if we have been doing our work, then this eclipse will afford us an opportunity to make massive forward progress in our lives. Please read the blog post about this eclipse if you want to know more.

May 2, 2022: Venus enters Aries. Venus is fresh off of its conjunction with both Neptune and Jupiter as it covered the last degrees of Pisces and a trip around the zodiac. How has your heart been expanded? How has your vision changed? Are you relating to others in a more expanded and compassionate way? Venus in Aries is fiery and passionate. How can you carry forward this expansion into a new way of being? Aries is a fresh start, a new beginning, an initiatory energy. It is the I AM. Set the world on fire with your passion, let love burn through your life, and see what is possible when you let your heart lead the way.

May 5, 2022: Sun conjunct Uranus at 14° Taurus. Fresh off of the New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse, the Sun moves into an exact conjunction with Uranus. Odds are the eclipse already illuminated what this conjunction is all about for you. The Sun meets Uranus once a year and supercharges our authentic expression. Uranus is the Great Awakener and carries an energy of the cosmic wake-up call. If you are listening, Uranus helps you make changes in your life that allow you to be more you. If you ignore this energy, Uranus will disrupt, shake up, and break up your life so that you are “forced” into changes that appear sudden and unexpected, but after the dust settles and you have some perspective, you realize that the changes were for the best.

New Moon & Partial Solar Eclipse in Taurus: Quantum leaps

April 30, 2022 New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse in Taurus Chart

The New Moon in Taurus occurs on April 30, 2022 at 3:28pm CST, and the Partial Solar Eclipse occurs at 3:41pm CST.  Eclipses happen when it appears as if one celestial body covers up another celestial body. A partial solar eclipse means the Moon covers the Sun only partially, but it is still an awe-inspiring phenomenon to witness. Astrologically speaking, eclipses are doorways that are opened up between the past and the future as the Nodes of the Moon are involved: North Node (future) and the South Node (past). This Partial Solar Eclipse involves the North Node in Taurus and the South Node in Scorpio. By now, you should have a really good idea about what the Nodes are teaching you as they have been in Taurus – Scorpio since the end of December 2021, mid-January 2022, depending on whether you use the Mean or True Nodes.

Let us begin with the Sun and the Moon, conjunct in Taurus, yet they are not alone. They are each approaching a conjunction with Uranus, also in Taurus, so Uranian energy is infusing this Eclipse as well. Eclipses can bring about sudden and unexpected events all on their own, but you add the Great Awakener into the mix…well, expect the unexpected. The great thing about understanding change is this: it is inevitable. So go with the flow and take that quantum leap into the unknown knowing that you can fly. Or resist change and suffer needlessly as things get taken away from you and you feel victimized. Either way, Uranus is always seeking authentic expression, so know that on the other side of it, you will be more you than you ever have before.

Venus, the queen of this New Moon and Eclipse in Taurus, is in a once-in-a-lifetime conjunction in Pisces with both Neptune and Jupiter. Venus is separating from Neptune (they were exactly conjunct on April 27), but it is approaching its conjunction with Jupiter, which is exact less than one hour after this eclipse at 4:14pm CST. This is loving energy on steroids. Personal love, the lower heart, our ability to love, relate, and connect (Venus), Universal love, the higher heart, our ability to dream, vision, and connect with the spiritual realms (Neptune), and Jupiter (guidance, wisdom, our ability to hope, to expand, and to say yes to life). Put all of these planets together in Pisces (oneness, unity, the metaphysical, the place where all things begin and end), and you may feel that absolutely anything is possible right now.

Well, maybe it is, as Mars in Pisces is sextile the Sun, Moon, and Uranus in Taurus. Mars in Pisces gets a bad rap from a lot of astrologers, but I like Mars in Pisces because it is an energy of inspired action, loving action, compassionate action, someone who considers how their actions do affect others. None of us are islands. We are all connected with one another, nature, the Earth, the Sun, Moon, stars, and the cosmos. You are always affecting others, whether positively or negatively, but with all of this loving energy being channeled through Pisces, you have a chance to not only take a quantum leap in your life, but to truly do it from a place of loving intention for the highest good of all.

Pluto in Capricorn is also playing a role in this eclipse as it is sextile the Neptune, Venus, and Jupiter in Pisces conjunction, giving us an extra push to let go of and surrender anything that is holding us back from our soul’s evolution. We are each of us a seed of potential, and we have everything we need within us to fulfill that potential, just as a seed has everything it needs to become the blade of grass, the flower, the bush, the tree. And yet, external conditions put pressure upon us (structures, systems, institutions, authorities) which can hold back our growth into our fullest potential if we don’t do the alchemy necessary to turn those forces into fuel for even greater growth and evolution.

Pluto in Capricorn is also newly turned retrograde, in addition to being in a separating trine with Mercury, newly moved into Gemini. This is an energy of rethinking and reevaluating what is worth building (Capricorn). Whatever you are committing yourself to, make sure it is in alignment with soul values and that you are telling a story with your life that you really want to experience. Because life is ultimately a choose your own adventure, and you are the one who has to live with and experience your own choices.

The North Node in Taurus and the South Node in Scorpio are still in a square with Saturn in Aquarius, though it is now separating. Saturn in Aquarius definitely wants us to move forward into the future. But in order to do so with maturity, inner authority, and responsibility, we must learn the lessons of the Nodes (Taurus – Scorpio) and seek to balance out these energies. To do the shadow work necessary to get in touch with our emotions so that we can become empowered and guided by them rather than tossed around and manipulated by them (Scorpio work) in order that we may become more empowered to live more fully in our bodies, aware of the ever unfolding miracle of having a physical experience of life on earth, grounded and present in the moment (Taurus work).

If you have been working with the energies and doing your work, then this eclipse is a time of amazing opportunities and quantum leaps. If you have not been present with the energies and avoided taking responsibility for yourself and your life, this eclipse could bring sudden, unexpected, and shocking events that force you into doing the work anyway.

Please feel free to share my work with others. Attribute to me or don’t. I freely share my creativity with the world because I have an abundance of it. It is a well that never runs dry. I share it because it is a gift and is also my sacred duty.
