June 4, 2022 Saturn goes retrograde in Aquarius square the Nodes

June 4, 2022: Saturn goes Rx at 25° Aquarius 15’. I posted an extensive article on my blog yesterday about Saturn going retrograde. You can find it here. It is time to grow up, individually and collectively, as Saturn is going retrograde in Aquarius square to the Nodes in Taurus and Scorpio. Your values (Taurus) and power (Scorpio) are being tested (Nodes square Saturn). What are you committing to?

June 10, 2022: Mercury at 28° Taurus trine Pluto at 28° Capricorn. The universe is definitely telling us to pay attention when a planet goes retrograde and covers territory in your chart (and consequently your life) not once but three times. Mercury first trined Pluto in Capricorn on April 28 while it was still direct. Then it trined Pluto again on May 25 as it was retrograde. Now Mercury is trining Pluto again as it is direct and will leave Taurus for Gemini on June 13. I talked extensively about Mercury in Gemini and Mercury’s retrograde in this blog. Can we use this energy to support our efforts to move forward in a new way? Can we allow ourselves to be transformed beyond anything we have ever known before? What if we made the health of our bodies, nature, and the earth a priority in any structure, institution, or system?  What would that look like? How would our values have to change?

Saturn goes retrograde in Aquarius square the nodes: Time to grow up

On June 4, 2022 Saturn goes retrograde in Aquarius

On June 4, 2022 at 4:47pm CST, Saturn goes retrograde at 25° Aquarius 15’. It is square to the Nodes in Taurus and Scorpio (and has been for months now), square to Mercury in Taurus (newly gone direct), and sextile to Eris in Aries. What I really feel like these energies are asking of us is for us to individually and collectively grow up. What I mean by grow up is for us to mature into adulthood and take responsibility for our relationship with ourselves, others, and Mother Earth. I looked up the definition of parasite this morning: “an organism living in, on, or with another organism in order to obtain nutrients, grow, or multiply, often in a state that directly or indirectly harms the host; someone or something that resembles a biological parasite in living off of, being dependent on, or exploiting another while giving little or nothing in return.” I have been deeply contemplating my own relationship with Mother Earth these past few months, asking myself if I am contributing or consuming. I am not trying to shame myself or anyone else for falling into the mindset of a consumer. Only when you know better can you do better. But now that I know better, I am doing everything I can to be a contributor.

Saturn is, after all, the planet that demands accountability, responsibility, and maturity. If you can work with Saturn and commit and dedicate yourself to whatever area of life Saturn is asking of you to examine, you will find that you are indeed rewarded. Saturn is currently in Aquarius square to the Lunar Nodes in Taurus and Scorpio. If we want to usher in the Age of Aquarius, we are going to have to examine our values (Taurus) and our power (Scorpio). Currently, we are experiencing crises at every level: personally, socially, culturally, nationally, and globally. We are being confronted with the consequences of valuing profit over people and planet. We are also being confronted with the consequences of power over, domination, and the pathological need to control.

Mercury went retrograde in Gemini and moved back into Taurus, coming into a trine with Pluto in Capricorn three times. We were given an opportunity to rethink and reimagine what we value. And Taurus is the earthiest of the signs, representing everything physical, tangible, and earthy: our bodies, nature, the planet, and life itself. Pluto in Capricorn has been exposing the rot at the core of our institutions, systems, and structures since 2008. Mercury is square Saturn as it turns retrograde, showing us that in order to grow up, we definitely need to rethink and reimagine our values. Perhaps it is time to ask ourselves what is truly needed to have a quality life, whether we could better use the resources we have, distribute resources more equitably, and give back more than we take (or contribute more than we consume).

Saturn is also sextile to Eris in Aries, the Goddess of Discord, showing us our conceit, our ego-centric ways of separation that have brought our species and all life on earth to the brink of destruction. We are so busy fighting over the golden apple we have failed to notice how ridiculously vain we are being by trying to prove ourselves fairest of them all.

Then on October 23, 2022, Saturn goes direct at 18° Aquarius 35’, little more than one degree from a square with Uranus in Taurus. Saturn and Uranus have been squaring each other since 2021, and only now will it wane as Saturn goes direct. Saturn and Uranus squared has been the penultimate tension between the old and the new, the past and the future, the traditional and the unconventional. May we have the wisdom to get past either/or (polarized thinking) and realize that integration is the true path forward.

It is time to grow up, individually and collectively. We cannot continue to take from Mother Earth without giving her anything in return. We can choose to be her partners, seeking to give more than we take, to become contributors. The choice is ours to make.

The Sabian Symbol for 26° Aquarius is very instructive:

PHASE 326 (AQUARIUS 26°): A GARAGE MAN TESTING A CAR’S BATTERY WITH A HYDROMETER.

KEYNOTE: Skill in applying knowledge of natural laws to the solution of everyday problems resulting from life in our technological society.

Here we see a man using his analytical mind to check up on the operation of the machines his inventive genius produced. This simple commonplace operation is used here as an indication of how deeply technology involves us in small matters, yet matters which in some circumstances could make the difference between life and death — i.e. a mechanical failure in a car on a crowded freeway. The need for “management” therefore is seen to affect every detail of our individual lives; this applies as well to the complexities of interpersonal, social or political relationships, because our modern society is indeed like a huge machine speeding on dangerous ground. Safety depends on available power.

This is the first of five degree symbols in the sixty-sixth sequence. It tells us that we constantly need the use of our intellectual power of observation and analysis to check on the effectiveness of the energies at our disposal. It is a symbol of mental efficiency.

New Moon in Gemini: Being open to different perspectives

May 30, 2022 New Moon in Gemini Chart

On May 30, 2022, the New Moon in Gemini was at 6:30am CST. The Sun and Moon were conjunct at 09° Gemini 03’. This is an energy of deep curiosity, an open-minded innocence, a childlike wonder, and a desire to learn. Gemini is truly like a young child who sincerely asks the question “why?” They really want to know and are willing to hear you out. They are such good communicators because they intuitively know that they must listen more than they speak in order to truly learn. They embrace different perspectives and viewpoints and know how to find patterns and make connections. This is all a higher expression of Gemini. There is always the opportunity to express the lower qualities of being scattered, vapid, gossipy, and two-faced. It is always a choice how we use these energies. The Sun and Moon are also in a sextile with Mars and Jupiter conjunct in Aries, giving this New Moon a boost of optimism and initiative. We are more willing to take inspired actions now, having more faith that things will unfold in a positive way. Perhaps we are more open to new possibilities, new choices, ideas we had not considered before or even thought were possible before now.

Mercury is currently getting ready to turn direct in Taurus on June 3, even as it is conjunct the North Node and opposite the South Node in Scorpio. It is also in a square with Saturn in Aquarius and a trine with Pluto in Capricorn. With so much heavy emphasis on Mercury, it is time to truly get down to business and get really clear on our thought process. Does it serve our soul evolution moving forward? Are we aligned with our soul values? Do we walk our talk?

Venus has newly entered into Taurus, so we are being given even more opportunities to really embrace the Taurean energy with now Venus, Uranus, the North Node, and Mercury being here. Taurus is the earthiest earth sign, sensuality, pleasure, embracing the body, nature, the earth, and life, and physicality. We are being invited to embrace physical life, to embrace our bodies, to embrace the earth, and to revolutionize our values.

Overall, this is a great time to keep yourself wide open to different perspectives. You never know what you might learn about the world or even about yourself that changes how you see things. When you change how you perceive the world, the world changes.

Weekly Sacred Astrology, May 28-June 3, 2022

May 30, 2022 New Moon in Gemini

May 28, 2022: Venus enters Taurus. Venus is the most at home in Taurus, where it can savor beauty, simplicity, and pleasure, where our hearts can be at ease and we can revel in the things that really matter: connecting with ourselves, others, and life in a meaningful way.

May 29, 2022: Mars conjunct Jupiter at 3° Aries. We have a chance to really have big vision and to take inspired actions that can carry us forward far into the future (Jupiter has just begun a new 12-year cycle in Aries). Jupiter can give us the faith and optimism to take actions on things we hadn’t dared to hope for before now.

May 30, 2022: New Moon at 09° Gemini 03’ at 6:30am CST. The Sun and Moon are conjunct in Gemini sextile to a separating conjunction of Mars and Jupiter in Aries. This is a time of new beginnings, of really being open and curious and taking bold actions that are aligned with your values  (Mercury in Taurus getting ready to turn direct in a few days).

June 3, 2022: Mercury goes direct at 26° Taurus 05’. Mercury will trine Pluto in Capricorn before it reenters Gemini on June 13. We have been rethinking what we value with this Mercury retrograde, and we have the opportunity to move forward now with more clarity and soul alignment.

Venus enters Taurus: An embodied experience of life

May 28, 2022 Venus enters Taurus

Venus enters Taurus on May 28, 2022 at 9:46am CST. Venus is most at home in the sign of Taurus, the realm of embodiment, the senses, pleasure in the physical. Loving your body, celebrating the beauty of physicality, the pleasure that can be had from smelling the roses, metaphorically and literally, is profound. The sacred is to be found in the physical world as much as the metaphysical, and Venus in Taurus can remind us just how wonderful it can be to live, really live and have a visceral, physical, embodied experience of life.

Venus will have many profound aspects as it travels through Taurus. It will first make a conjunction with Uranus in Taurus on June 11, the same day it is opposite the Moon in Scorpio at the Peak Venus Portal. Then on June 17, Venus will conjunct the North Node in Taurus and oppose the South Node in Scorpio. Two days later, Venus squares Saturn in Aquarius. On June 21, the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere, Venus will trine Pluto in Capricorn. The next day, Venus enters Gemini.
