Mercury Retrograde: Remembering the past so you can rethink your future

Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius & Capricorn Doodle Art By Kandy Williams

Mercury goes retrograde on January 14, 2022 at 5:41am CST at 10° Aquarius 19’. It is partile square to Uranus at 10° Taurus 50’. It is also conjunct Saturn at 13° Aquarius. So it is triggering the Saturn – Uranus square that was so prevalent in 2021 and is still relevant in 2022. Even more significantly, Mercury is going to retrograde back into Capricorn and conjunct with Pluto before it turns direct again and moves back into Aquarius. What this is telling me is that this Mercury retrograde is asking us to remember the past so we can rethink our future. We could say Saturn is the past and Uranus is the future, Capricorn is the past and Aquarius is the future. Pluto in Capricorn is demolishing things that we have built in the past because they are no longer serving our soul evolution, where we want to go in the future. If it is taken away from us, it is not meant to be carried forward into the future. It is time to remember the past and integrate its lessons so that we can rethink what we truly want to bring forward with us into the future that we are all of us building together now.

I also love the Sabian Symbols, and the Sabian Symbol for 11° Aquarius speaks volumes:  DURING A SILENT HOUR, A MAN RECEIVES A NEW INSPIRATION WHICH MAY CHANGE HIS LIFE.

KEYNOTE: The need to rely upon inner inspiration and guidance at the start of new developments.

What is implied here is the essential value of keeping open to the descent of spiritual or Soul forces, especially when a new period of individual activity is about to begin. The individual should not depend mainly on outer circumstances and on traditional — and in a sense external, because collectively formulated — incentives. There is a creative power within, a power that can be tapped, or rather that should be allowed to flow into the brain-consciousness or the hands which write or fashion materials into original forms.

This is the first stage in the sixty-third sequence of five phases of activity. It refers to the overshadowing of the individual consciousness by an inner, yet transcendent, Power.

Venus is also retrograde in Capricorn, and it is on tap to conjunct Pluto three times (as is Mercury), but essentially is spending weeks conjunct Pluto in Capricorn. Mercury was conjunct Venus in Capricorn just as it entered its shadow, so the heart is transmitting to the mind the wisdom it has gathered from being in Capricorn. The Sun is also in Capricorn and will conjunct Pluto right before it conjuncts Mercury at 3° Aquarius.
