Mars enters Scorpio today, October 31, 2021. How profound to have the planet of action, of how we make our desires real in the world (Mars) going into Scorpio on the day of Samhain. According to history.com: “Samhain is a pagan religious festival originating from an ancient Celtic spiritual tradition. In modern times, Samhain (a Gaelic word pronounced “SAH-win”) is usually celebrated from October 31 to November 1 to welcome in the harvest and usher in “the dark half of the year.” Celebrants believe that the barriers between the physical world and the spirit world break down during Samhain, allowing more interaction between humans and denizens of the Otherworld.”
Scorpio is a fixed water sign. To me, Scorpio is like an iceberg. You only see the tip of the iceberg sticking up out of the water. You have to dive below the surface in order to see the rest of the iceberg. Or imagine a person walking above a still body of water. There is a person above the water, but there is also the shadow of that person below the water as well. If you deeply contemplate these analogies, you can better understand the energy of Scorpio. Scorpio energy is that which dares to go where others fear to tread. It will take the dive into the watery depths, it will venture into the darkness, take the road less traveled into the shadowy forest.
Only by diving into our emotional depths can we ever hope to intimately know ourselves and our motivations. When you know yourself in that deep and intimate way, you have true power and mastery over yourself. When you know yourself, you can truly merge with others and life in the deepest and most profound way without getting consumed and losing yourself.
With Mars in Scorpio energy, we are supported in doing the deep work. We can take the actions necessary to become warriors of Love, to become those who act from integrity, from emotional maturity and heart coherence, from heart wisdom, from alignment with soul. When we understand how to work with our emotions, we empower ourselves to work with creative energy. Emotions motivate us to act. But only when we know ourselves in the most intimate way can we be certain that we are being motivated by our own drives and desires and not being manipulated by the power plays of others, whether intimate others or institutions.
