New Moon in Cancer: Feel what you need to feel

Today, July 9, 2021 at 8:17pm, we have a New Moon at 18° Cancer 02’. A New Moon is when the Sun and Moon are conjunct, beginning a new moonthly cycle. Cancer is home, family, the past, your lineage, roots, how you comfort and are comforted. A lot of astrologers associate the Moon with mothering and nurturing as well. I am beginning to find that Ceres takes on those qualities more. The Moon is more like a child than a mother. It is conditioning and patterns of being.

This New Moon is a bit stormy. It is opposite Pluto in Capricorn and square to Chiron in Aries. You might find yourself feeling stormy yourself, more emotional than usual, more nostalgic, contemplating your past, thinking about home and family, old wounds surfacing. Embrace it. You have to feel something to fully heal it. Let the tides wash over you. Retreat into your shell and feel anything and everything you need to feel. Feeling emotions is normal, and we all have them. It is only when we don’t allow ourselves to feel, judge ourselves for having emotions, or suppressing and denying our emotions that we cause suffering, not only for ourselves, but for others as we project and blame others for our emotions. But no one can make you feel anything. Your emotions are yours and yours alone.

Mercury in Gemini has now gone direct and left its shadow zone, and it is separating from its square to Neptune in Pisces, so you will be better able to perceive reality clearly and communicate your needs better. This will help.

Venus in Leo is approaching its conjunction with Mars in Leo, and that is a beautiful energy of being able to discern our heart wisdom and take inspired action on it. After Mars and then Venus activated the Saturn – Uranus square, it is likely that you have encountered some reality checks in your own life. That’s okay. Following your heart’s wisdom may very well mean standing alone and being in a very uncomfortable place of not knowing what’s next. But creating something new requires a leap of faith into the unknown.

Feel what you need to feel so that you can truly move forward in your life. That is the invitation of this New Moon in Cancer.
