I love astrology, and I have been practicing it for over a decade. I have always viewed it from a psychological lens, as studying why humans are the way they are has been a fascination of mine since I was a little girl. I have always wanted to know why. Why am I the way I am? What if I want to change something about myself? Why do I do what I do? How does nature and nurture combine to create my unique essence? And I turn this lens on others too, in an effort to understand others and facilitate more conscious relationships.
Recently, I have grown unsatisfied with astrology. I have felt that there was something missing from my chart. I have looked at my chart thousands of times, and it has been an amazing tool for my soul evolution. But I am also an alchemist, and I know that I am also more than soul. I am Spirit too. And I am also someone who believes in simplicity, so I knew it was not a matter of learning another technique: solar and lunar progressions, secondary progressions, solar arc directions, solar return charts, and secondary progressions. I am sure I am missing some additional techniques to manipulate the birth chart. There was something more to the story.
I recently watched a virtual summit called Re-Dream Astrology Retreat, Re-Dream The World In The Age Of Aquarius: How to Powerfully Navigate this Transition with Heart. It was filled with amazing astrologers and other speakers, but one of the talks particularly sparked something within me. It was called “Mercury’s Air Elemental Year” with Jamie Lee Goldstein. Jamie said “all of the light that we receive [from the Sun] has first passed Mercury and then Venus,…all of the light that I am looking at…has passed Mercury and Venus, literally, before it has come to us [here on Earth], so the light has the energy of those planets within it.” As within, so without or as above, so below. I found an image of the solar system and made it my screen saver. The Sun is the source of all light and life, and my inner sun is the source of my vitality and essence. So what if I look at my astrology from the Sun’s point of view?
I became enamored with the idea of looking at my astrology from the lens of the Sun, as opposed to from the Earth-centric point of view (Geocentric astrology is what the majority of astrologers practice). There is a bare minimum of information online about Heliocentric astrology. But I was able to cast my chart. WOW!!!! My mind was blown by my heliocentric birth chart. There are no Nodes of the Moon, Black Moon Lillith, or Sun, but you have a Moon and Earth, along with all of the other planets and asteroids you normally use. There is also no horizon, meridian, or houses. When I looked at this chart, I knew this was the missing piece of astrology I had been seeking. I had my chart for my soul (the geocentric chart), and now I had it for my Spirit as well (the heliocentric chart). Our physical bodies are the alchemical retort, the chalice that receives the heavenly energies and the earthly energies, the light and the dark, and combines them in the heart to form the golden nectar that grants immortality. We are an intricate dance of both, and having both of these charts gives me a synthesis of my energies. As I delve more deeply into synthesizing heliocentric and geocentric astrology, I will share my findings in this blog.
